San Diego, CA (May 4, 2014) – The heat wave that had hovered over California began to give way today as the 42nd annual Yachting Cup regatta awoke to its third and final day for the 11 competing fleets.
San Diego, CA (May 3, 2014) – In the "you can’t have it all" theme, the racing today at the 42nd running of the Yachting Cup Regatta fell one item short. The day had full sun and a dry heat, the mariachis were passionately playing, and the evening beverages were in synch with the Cinco de Mayo celebration. If only the wind came to the party.
San Diego, CA (May 2, 2014) – Record temperatures and the sizzle of Cinco de Mayo celebrations set the stage for the 42nd running of the Yachting Cup Regatta on May 2-4. Hosted by San Diego Yacht Club, 11 fleets will compete in one design and PHRF handicap divisions.
The 2013 Yachting Cup was held at San Diego Yacht Club on Saturday & Sunday, May 4 & 5. After competitors picked up their document packets in the Jessop Room provided by Sailing Supply and Harken along with Mount Gay Rum hats for all, the weekend started off with a bang on Friday night at the "VIP Skippers Party".
Racing on Saturday and Sunday was back to ‘moderate San Diego’ – nothing like the storm-laden NOOD regatta in March. Skies were clear and the winds were a mild 6 – 8 kts from the south southwest. 87 boats assigned across three courses made their way to the start lines all located in the ocean.
