The first race is in the books for Yachting Cup, San Diego Yacht Club’s premier spring regatta. The three-day regatta will continue through Sunday, May 3rd and racing will take place on three different courses.
This year marks the 43rd year of the Yachting Cup, San Diego Yacht Club’s spring signature regatta. This premier regatta brings together very competitive fleets of handicap and one design classes for 3 days of racing on both bay and ocean courses. The conditions are usually perfect.

For sailors, springtime in San Diego can only mean one thing. While the rest of the country enjoys warmer weather and blossoming wildlife, the sailing community is training and strategizing for Yachting Cup, the premiere spring regatta of the San Diego Yacht Club.

This year marks the 43rd running of the Yachting Cup Regatta, SDYC’s signature event. Again this year is the expanded two and a half day format which combines both random leg racing with windward leeward buoy courses that will truly test the competitors.
The Yachting Cup is registered with Sailors for the Sea as a Clean Regatta. As such, all competitors’ attention is drawn to the second Basic Principle of the Racing Rules of Sailing - Environmental Responsibility, which states: "Participants are encouraged to minimize any adverse environmental impact of the sport of sailing."
